Columbus Take 2

Soccer started last Monday so summer is pretty much over for this momma.  We did one last mini trip.  We went to Columbus Ohio with Mike for his business trip.  Not the most exiting place to be but the kids sure were excited.  Especially .Amelia.  She kept yelling "OHIO!!!".

The kids were awesome this trip.  We switched carseats for Amelia and she can sleep now since this one has more head support.Life saver!!

They love traveling with their little rolling suit cases.

hayden loves having his own big bed at hotels

Both kids love jumping on the beds.  They filled amelia's pack n play with blankets and pillows and would jump from the bed into it.

the kids loved swimming in the hotel pool.  Give them their inner tubes and they are set.

I wish they would have liked swimming when we were on our real vacation but sadly they did not for some reason.

We went swimming 3x this trip.

Nice face Hayden!!

On Thursday I took the kids to the zoo.  It said possible isolated thunderstorms on the weather channel.  It poured as soon as we got in and did not let up until a few hours.  It was like a monsoon.
I had to break down and buy the $3 ponchos for the kids.
Eventually it did  stop and was nice the rest of the day.

We spent a lot of time in the aquariums since it rained.  Both liked it.  Amelia freaked when a sting ray went by suctioned to the glass.  She wasn't ready for it.  Ha ha.

They hated the Penguin area because it smelled.

Amelia loved watching the baby chimp.

Hayden liked the snake area and even got touch one.

The kangaroos were out right on the path.

They even petted the goats.  Who's kids are these?
This was as close as Amelia would get.  Ha ha.

Hayden would brush them.

A scary story...
One night we went to the mall because it was raining and we wanted out of the hotel room.  The kids were playing at the playground and we lost sight of Amelia.  We did like 5 laps around the playground and couldn't find her.  We started to get scared.  Luckily we found her hiding in someones stroller with the shades all up.  She thought it was funny.  We did not.

We went to Hayden falls of course.

In Indian Run Falls.

We had ice cream at Graeters.  Yummy.

We stopped at this random statues of corn. Hayden wanted to go when we passed it earlier in our trip.  They loved running around here.

We went downtown and took  a tour of the Santa Maria replica.  It was long and hot and i can not believe the kids lasted the hour it took.  Our tour guide was super weird.

After we took the kids to play in the water area.  Hayden just absolutely loves these things.  His imagination goes wild and he runs crazy.  I love watching him.

Amelia is much more reserved and find the smallest amount of water shooting out and doesn't move

It was Latino day downtown so there was a balloon artist.  Hayden is doing his super hero pose.

.

Here is a city shot

On the way home we stopped at Cabella's to break up the trip.  I hate it there but Mike loves it.  Way too West Virginia for me. Hayden .seems to like it too

Now we are back home... working, running soccer practices and Hayden will be starting PRESCHOOL!!!!!!!

Bible camp bust

We signed Hayden up for a bible camp down the street.  He gladly went the first day although this picture doesn't show it. Ha ha

Amelia cried because she couldn't go with her Hayden.

On the 2nd day Hayden couldn't go because mike and I were busy so he was at his cousins house. They don't drive.

The third day mike took him and he was fine. They did a slip n slide.

Thursday he refused to go in with out me. He clung to me and screamed and cried. I tried to leave but the counselor  wouldn't take him or stop him from following me. I tried several times. He even got to see all of the cool things he would do that day. Like marshmallow battles and working with cement. Still wouldn't go.

But he screamed and cried when we left. Full tantrum for what seemed like forever.

Friday was the carnival. I asked ahead of time if he would go with his class with out me. He would never say yes. So we didn't go and he was upset.

The Flood

So our basement flooded.  We got a ton of rain and the water was pouring down our back hill to the drain.  It was just too much for the drain so water started bypassing it and hitting the house.  We did not realize that an old chimney hole has become unsealed.  So, instead of water seeping into the walls in the laundry room, it was pouring out of a hole around the size of amelia's head!  The laundry room and bathroom got flooded and our carpet in the entry room was ruined.  Also our extra mattress that I was saving for Amelia got ruined.  Some other things got wet that we dried out.

Here are some pictures:
The water coming down the hill...

the waterfall in the woods:

water on one side of house...

water coming down our path...

We also had some problems with water and our driveway.  A tiny stream (if you can call it that) goes under the driveway.  It became too much water and started flooding both sides of the yards (not ours).  It got really full also because they are building roads across the street and up the hill.  So water was pouring down their road like a waterfall into our neighbors yard.

It filled so high that it went over the driveway!

A closer look:

Luckily for  Carnegie water didn't go above this bridge this time.

So now we are cleaning.  The play room carpet got wet but we were able to get it dry and saved it with a  rug cleaner, huge fans from Mike's work, and a dehumidifier.

The laundry room is clean and organized now.  Hayden helped with that.

We ripped the carpet out of the front room and repainted. We put tile in.  Thanks Tim for helping.  $2000 to install is crazy.  Especially when the tile is only $500.

The play room has been full of furniture and other things until the basement is done.   That is no fun.

After several weeks, Here is our finished room.  Now I want new  furniture for it.  Ha ha.
