Zions National Park

we spent a few days at St George Utah and one day we went to zions national park

Zions is a very pretty park.  The scenery is just beautiful

Our first hike was the Emerald Pools trail.

Here are all of the cousins ready to go.

Amelia wanted to climb  everything that her cousins did.  She didn't want to be left out.

We made it to the first pool and saws the lower falls.  It felt good to go behind them and get sprayed.

Nana was nice enough to take the two youngest girls and the rest of us hiked up to the middle and upper pools.

The middle pool was back and a little hidden.  Me and some of the kids all got in and cooled off.

The upper pool said no swimming so we just checked it out.  The waterfall was there but hard to see since it was so low.

Our next hike was the river walk.  We hiked all the way to the narrows.

The narrows is where you hike in the river thru the canyon.

Mike and I hiked a little further then everyone to check it out.

The kids stayed and played in the water.  They loved it.

They also played in the sand.

We saw this waterfall on the way and stopped to get in there too.

Hayed loved climbing up rocks and sliding down on his butt..  Amelia did too.

Overall we hiked more then 5 miles.  It is hard with little kids or we would have covered so much more.

Utah Waterfalls

While in Utah we saw over 20 waterfalls.  Our new total is around 150       .
We bought a waterfall book that helped us find all of these.

Our first waterfall was a short hike to Adam's canyon lower falls.  It is just a few minutes from Mike's parents house.  We took the kids on this hike.  It turns out that Amelia is now scared of waterfalls.  She is really going thru a wimpy phase right now.

There are three waterfalls on this hike.  The trail is very popular but most people don't know about the lower falls for some reason.  So we had the falls to ourselves.

You get pretty high up on this trail.  Here is a little shot of the view below...

We only did the lower falls this day because the kids would never make it to the upper falls.

The waterfall book also mentioned that there was a waterfall near Mike's parents house.  It said it was a few miles away and roadside.  Well roadside meant up a steep narrow canyon road.  The edge was terrifying to me since I don't like heights.  We all made it up there safely, but it seemed to take forever to drive those 4 miles.
Here is the view from one of the pullouts.

Here it is with mike, his dad, and hayden.  Pretty

Here was the waterfall we found.

We had two car loads of people on this little trip but none are in the picture because season screamed that she saw a snake and everyone ran away.

I did get a good of mike and his parents and sisters at the top.

and had them take one of us.  Hayden is actually smiling.

And i got this cute one of Amelia and Mike.

The next day Mike and I decided to hike to the the upper Adams falls.  It is a 3 mile hike up the mountain but it was so pretty that it didn't seem bad at all.

We saw the cascades on the way

and the middle falls.

and this one too.

The upper falls is the highlight of the hike and it sure was cold up at the top of the mountain with the waterfall mist.

There are a lot of people on this trail but we were able to get shot with no one in it.

Here is a view after you come out of the canyon on the way down.  (There was a still a mile or so before the falls)

We also did a short hike to Rick's Creek waterfall.  .

It is behind Mike's sisters house.  Because it was a minute drive Hayden got to ride in the back of the truck with his cousins.  He was so excited.

He also peed 4 times on this 5 minute hike.

The waterfall was very pretty.

The kids had a blast playing in the water.

I took some of them behind the falls.

It was cold and we were soaked

On our way to St George/Zions we stopped to hike at Stewart Falls. I have been wanting to do this hike forever.

The scenic drive was very pretty.

We saw a small waterfall called Pine Hollow Waterfall.

And we took a short detour and saw the cascade falls.  They were very pretty.

The kids loved getting out of the car after the long drive and had a blast running on all of the boardwalks.

We saw a few waterfalls in the distance on our way to Sundance to see Stewart Falls.

When we got to Stewart falls hike we rode the ski lift to the top thinking we could just hike down and it would be easier.  Well Amelia got sunblock in her eye and was screaming the entire ride.  It was so long.

Then we started the hike and it was a narrow hike on the mountain making us nervous and Hayden was a beast.

We got to a look out and saw the falls from a distance.  We got fed up with the kids and turned around.  I swear the lift ride took an hour to get down.  Ugh.  It was disappointing to not get to see the falls up close.  We have really wanted to do these for a while now.  But here is a picture of them from far away at the overlook we made it to.

After our "hike" we had a 3 1/2 hour drive to st. george  which was also a disaster.  Amelia refused to nap and was miserable.

Another day we went to Nordstrom Rack and we realized that we were near some falls. (per our book).  So we drove a few miles to see the Church Fork upper waterfall and the lower falls.  Season came with us to
these.

Upper

Lower

Then our last day we were going to hike waterfall canyon but no one wanted to.  next time.  So we just drove to this roadside waterfall in ogden.

This post isn't all of our waterfall pictures but it is the main ones.  We could have seen tons more but we had to spend time with Mike's family of course!
