Amelia's dance recital

Amelia finished dance this June and had her recital.  She loved dance and did a great job.  She looked so cute when I lined her up to go on stage.  (see above pic).  Then when I sat down and she came out on stage she had her socks pulled up like soccer socks!!!  Ha ha.
(see below)

Amelia did great.  She really knew her routine.  You can watch a short video here:

Kennedy was in the recital too and also did great.

McConnell's Mill and Moraine State Park

Our last weekend of soccer games took us to Butler for a game.  Since we were so close to McConnell's Mill and Moraine State park we decided to  make  a day of it.

We left the house around before 8am for my 9am game.

After the game we had a picnic lunch at MccConnell's Mill.  Then we did a 2 mile hike.  We saw tons of new waterfalls.

Hayden and Amelia really loved visiting inside the mill this trip.  So we got some education in!
We saw the spillway falls.

We saw Kildoo falls which isn't new to us but still fun to see.

Here is the covered bridge too.

We hiked along and saw tons of side waterfalls.

The kids enjoyed playing in the sand along side the water.

We saw several kyaks.  And the Baldwin EMT dept was being trained on water rescue.  So it was a busy place to be.

We got to see Eckert falls.  Here is the lower portion

and here is the upper portion.

Hayden hiked the entire 2 miles.  And you figure we hiked up the hillside many times to see all o f the waterfalls so it was definitely more than 2 miles.  He did awesome.  All while having  a belly ache (and some other issues to go along with that),  he did stop to pee several times

Amelia walked most of the  way.  Towards the end she got whiny.  I told her she had to walk with me so we could win and beat hayden and mike.  Man...that girl is competitive.  She basically ran the rest of the way saying she had to win.  Not sure where she gets that from:)

The hike did take longer than we thought since we kept stopping and playing in all of the fun areas.  Mike was ready to head home but the kids were told earlier we would swim in the lake and they still wanted to.  So we made the short drive to Moraine State Park.  It was almost 4pm.

First we stopped for some drinks and told the kids they could  a treat for doing so good on the hike.  Amelia got a slushy and hayden got a reese cup.  When Amelia was done with her slushy she asked for a treat.  She said a slushy is a drink not a treat!  Ha ha

It was busy since only one beach was open.  The water was nice and not too cold.

The kids loved swimming.

They also enjoyed building sand castles.  Especially Amelia.

We saw this lady who decided to swim in her clothes and not a swim suit.  She gave everyone a show the entire time.  Weird.

Afterwards we stopped at King Kone for ice cream.  We wanted to go after soccer since it was next to the field but it wasn't open yet.

Finally we made it home a little before 8.  We were gone all day.  Hayden wanted to cut the grass because mike told him the day before he could cut it on Saturday.  So they quickly cut some grass.  Then finally off to bed for everyone.  It was a busy day but Hayden said it was the best ever.

Cleveland Trip

We took another weekend trip to Cleveland.  It was for soccer this time.  We lucked out and had great weather.  The team went 1-1-1.

One day in between games we had a long break.  So we drove to Lake Erie and went to Columbia Beach falls.  It was a lot of fun.

There is a beach and then there is a waterfall that empties right into the lake.  How cool!

The waterfall had three levels.  This is the lower/main level.

We climbed it just to have some fun and were able to get a better view of the middle falls

Here is the middle falls.

and upper falls.

Hayden climbed with mike several times he loved it.  He brought his bungee cord with him and was having blast.

Once was enough for Amelia.  She enjoyed playing in the sand instead.  She is just so content all of the time (and a big chicken!)

We ate our lunch here and that was nice.

We saw this house that was built into the Cliffside on the beach.

Eventually it got a little warm and the kids played in the water at the falls.  Hayden was mad when we left because I didn't pack extra underwear just shorts.

It was a fun day.  We would have stayed longer but I had to get back for our second game.
