Grilled cheese and tomato soup...just like Grandma Ruth's

We had grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner the other night. Hayden loved it. He dipped his sandwich in the soup and said MMMMmmmm.

It made me think of when I was a little girl and would go visit my Grandma Ruth. She always had a plate of cheese and crackers for me (b/c that was all I would probably eat at her house since I was so picky). Eventually that branched into grilled cheese sandwiches. But I do not know how she ever got me to eat tomato soup. I was way too picky to eat that. In fact I never tried new foods probably until I went to college. Hopefully Hayden won't be as picky as me. I wish Hayden could have met Grandma Ruth but he is lucky to have one Great Granmda here (Grandma Erfort) and he also has a great grandfather in West Virginia (but he hasn't met him yet)

The grilled cheese story also made me think of how I tricked my niece bailey into trying tomato soup. She had refused until i told her it was spaghetti soup. :)

Some more kindergarten stories

Well i had a bunch of pictures of hayden being a monkey boy (climbing into the dryer, up on the table standing, etc) but my camera ate them!

So how about some more kindergarten stories...

All of the boys at lunch decided to punch each others privates. Well they got caught (b/c I told he he!) and had to have a talk with the male teacher. So he took all of the boys and talked to them in the hall(except Vincent and Adam b/c they weren't doing it and he didn't want to give them any ideas). When they came back they saw that Vincent didn't go out. Elijah says "hey why didn't vincent have to come out". Not sure who but another boy said very matter of factly, "oh Vincent must not have any privates!"

There is a little girl Sarah who is very cute but definately a handful. She is the reason that if i ever have a little girl she will not wear a dress to school. We see her underwear at least 20x a day. This day was one step further...
It was last week and the weather was finally a little warm enough to play outside (still only like high 30's though). Sarah is sliding down the twisty slide (remember this is a metal slide). She comes down and I see her full bum! Her tights and underwear have slid down to her knees. She comes down the slide stands up and starts running to go down again. She doesn't pull them up. So she comes down the slide again full bum exposed to cold metal and cold air. This repeats several times. Other kids (well boys) were riding the slide down with her. She doesn't care. The teachers had to stop her and make her pull up her tights and underwear. The next day one of the boys who rode the slide with her followed her everywhere!

One day the teacher was having the kids make up a sentence with the word do. I do like pizza. Do you want to play? etc. This boy Esten was thinking really hard and then said, "I do shave my dad's back". Interesting.

The teacher and I are trying to solve a mystery. Which child goes poop in the toilet almost everyday, never flushes, and obviously never wipes b/c there is no toilet paper in there. It is always a not so pleasant surprise when you go to use the bathroom.

The laptop computers in the room smell like B.O. Adam was using one and I thought it was me and I was so embarrassed... it was bad. I kept smelling myself and realized it wasn't me. Then I wondered if it was Adam and i was smelling him. The teacher saw me and told me the computers are really old and they just smell that bad. Gross!

Adam and Vincent both pick their nose. Vincent has crazy stuff going on up there and can stretch it really far out past his face. Adam just eats his. I looked at Vincent one day playing with his and wondering when we aren't watching and can't get him a tissue where does it go (he does not eat it). At this point I told Vincent's TSS I think i am glad Adam eat his boogers(which obviously I don't let him do, but hey he is fast sometimesA). Then I at least know they aren't on me if he touches me. With vincent who knows where that stuff ends up. Yuck!

Waiting for Daddy to come home...

Hayden loves to sit up on top of the couch and look out the window. He now does it to look for Mike when he comes home for work. When the car pulls into the driveway Hayden gets a huge grin and either bangs the glass or yells dad. Very cute.

Mike had to go to Cleveland for work. Hayden went to the window a few times and was looking for mike and calling him. He loves his dad.

Phipps Conservatory

We went to Phipp's Conservatory with Mike's boss and his wife. It was almost empty so Hayden got to walk around and he seemed to enjoy it. We saw some flowers, lots of plants, and the blown art exhibits. Then we had lunch at the Cheesecake factory. Mmmm. AFterwards Hayden took an extra long nap. Bonus!

Here are some pictures:

2 pictures and some recipes

This is Hayden at Mike's work. He loves computers. This picture makes me laugh.

And this is Hayden's black eye currently

I have decided that when I make something yummy I am going to post the recipe on here so others can try and enjoy some good food.

This weekend I made Panera Bread Broccoli Cheese soup. I usually make this a few times in the fall/winter. Next time I make it I may try to make a huge batch and freeze it. Here is the link to the recipe:

Today I made spaghetti and garlic bread. I had every intention of making homemade sauce but hayden had other plans. I did manage to make the garlic bread. It is from the pioneer woman (her book and website are awesome). It is totally bad for you (all of her recipes are) but so yummy: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2009/03/garlic-cheese-bread/

Hayden's Rough Day

Poor Hayden had a bad day today. He has a nice shiner! I still don't know what he cut his eye on. He fell in our computer room. I saw it at the last second. It look liked he hit the top of his head. But his eye was immediately cut. My only guess is that he cut it on one of the baskets on our shelf??? Either way it set the tone for the morning. Not fun! He did perk up by the end of the day thankfully. I am sure this is the first of many bruises, cuts, black eyes, etc. (if you look at some of the other pics you can see that he has two other bruises on the same side of his head.

Quinn's Bachelorette Party

We had Quinn's bachelorette party this weekend since she was in town. We all met at Hillary's and then went to S Bar on the Southside. I felt so old being back on the southside. I think I am officially a "Cougar"! (ha ha)

Happy New Year!!!

We had a nice amount of snow on the 31st so we made a snowman with Hayden. He still is not "feeling" the snow.

We then went to the outlets for some shopping. We have done this several times on New Years Eve. No one was there so it was nice, quiet shopping. We got some good deals.

Then we went to Renee's for NYE party.
