JBF Sale

This year I decided to work at the JBF sale.  It is a huge consignment sale that takes place at the Robert Morris bubble (where you can hit golf balls inside).  The entire bubble is filled with used clothes, toys, furniture, etc for kids.

This year I sold items and volunteered so I can shop first.  It was hard work...unloading trucks, carrying heavy boxes, and standing at a register that was on a table that I am way too tall for -- can you say back hurts!!!  But I got to shop a day early and avoid the 1-3 hour lines and got first pick at toys.  So the kids have some great Christmas presents or birthday gifts (Hayden)

I used my pre-pass to buy these toys:

Hayden enjoys playing with his batman bat cave and figures so I got him the tranformer fire place for a few bucks.  I also got the penguins submarine and an avenger boat with more figures like wolverine and ironman.   All of these totaled under $20.

These board games were all $1 each... an avenger game, a batman trouble game, and an angry birds game.

I got this soccer ball potty chair for mom's house for$8.

Amelia loves playing with her dora figures.  Her favorites are the two twin babies.  THey are tiny and I watch them like a hawk b/c she hides things.  Sure enough the baby boy has been missing for a week.  The small packs of 2 figures at walmart are like $7.  I got this whole house and figures and furniture for $14.

I saw these Minnie dolls at walmart that are like big polly pockets.  THey have dresses and hair things that clip on so you can change her.  I knew amelia would love them.   But the price can be up to $40.  I found a bag with the minnies and clothes and it came with a little carry house for $15.  yay!

Amelia has been asking for barbies.  She has a cinderella one.  If target sells the pack of princess barbies the day after thanksgiving I am going to get it for her birthday.  At the sale I got her cinderellas carriage with the horse.  So this will be saved for her birthday.

I got 2 xbox games for Hayden.  each like $4.  a pillow pet for someone else.  And the van is for the loving family doll house that Amelia is getting (I found a like new one at the thrift store with a ton of furniture).

This is not a present but we needed a new table for outside since hayden took a sledgehammer to ours and put a hole in it.  THis was $10.

I mentioned earlier that amelia is getting the dollhouse.  I wanted hayden to have something big like...gotta keep the gifts even you know.  ha ha.  So we got him this bag of big lego type blocks that let you build a fort.  They build forts everyday in the basement.  These were just in all of the ads for $100.  Got them for $30  I figure amelia will also play with them.

Hayden got some clothes.  A halloween shirt for a couple bucks. a penguin shirt for $3.  and steeler jersey for $4.I didn't even look for clothes for amelia that day.  The racks were so jammed packed you couldn't even move the clothes to look at them.  They both have a ton of clothes from me going to the flea market all summer so i figured I would wait until they get picked down a little

I did get a batman costume for a couple of bucks too.

The last day of the sale is half off day.  I got a free pass to go the night before.   Very nice.  But kids were with me which makes it harder.

I have started to buy Hayden the "froggy" books.  I always enjoyed reading them to the kids I worked with. So I got about 4 of them at the sale.  And we collect amelia bedelia books  for Amelia.  So they were all like 50 cents.  I got some other miscellaneous books.

Mike got some more xbox games.  The star wars lego ones and and a regular star wars for Hayden.  All just a couple of bucks.

I got amelia princess paper dolls but they were magnetic instead.  I may save those for a plane ride or long car trip.

The spiderman station that I wanted to get the first day but thought was overpriced was at the half off sale.  So that was exciting.    I had to tell Hayden it was for Brady.  Ha ha.

Speaking of Brady I got him a chewbacca costume for $2.  Cute.

But I mainly got Amelia some clothes. Nothing really jumped out at me for Hayden.  I lucked out earlier this summer and a lady let me fill a bag of clothes for $3.  SO hayden was set. I went a little overboard but got amelia lots of cute clothes.

Like these 2 pretty dresses and this little coat to wear over her fancy dresses.  The coat was only $3.

I always buy these little things at the childrens place to go over her sleeveless dresses.  they are hard to find elsewhere and I hate paying so much for them.  I got these for $1.50 each.  I was a happy camper.

3 pairs of childrens place jeans for $2 each.  One might be old navy i forget.

Some misc outfits all just a few bucks

Some slippers, brown furry boots, pink cowboy boots, and other stuff.  All $3 or less.

Overall it was a good experience and I think I would do it again.  I met some nice people when volunteering.  I also sold my stuff and made $350+.  Of course I spent a good chuck of that. ;)

If you have one in your area check it out.  They are each individual operated so I can't promise it will be as nice as ours.

Not sure why this one is upside down.  Oops!
