We took a day trip to McConnell's Mill and Moraine State Park over Memorial Weekend. We went with our friends the Darbous family. They have a little boy around Hayden's age.
Amelia slept the entire drive until we got off the highway. That reminded me of how Hayden used to be. We did a short hike to see the mill and bridge and then went on to see one of the waterfalls. Amelia was perfect. Hayden kept running ahead and was making Mike a nervous wreck. This place is along rough water and has huge rocks everywhere. So of course our boy loved it. He liked playing in the waterfall too.
Afterwards we went up to the lake and had lunch. The boys went swimming. Hayden absolutely loved the lake. I was surprised. It is a little hard to go with a baby since she can't wear sunblock but she was pretty good. On the way home she slept only a half hour (and that was with missing a nap while we were out). I guess she doesn't like to sleep in her car seat!
The rest of the weekend was busy with a fire/making smores, a picnic, and dinner with the family. It was a HOT weekend. But we can't complain.
