Amelia's Arrival

We were scheduled for an induction on Friday. We were told we would get a call to come in between 8 am and 12. It felt like we were waiting for a the cable guy. We didn't get called until after 1. So the day started way later than I had hoped. By the time we got to the hospital, checked in, and they hooked me up to everything, it was almost 4. An induction is a slow process to get to 10 cm. I got an epidural around 11:30. It worked for an hour and I slept. After an hour My legs and lower pelvic area stayed numb but I was really feeling all of the contractions. I couldn't tell by any pain but I felt that the baby's head was way down.

They gave me some more medicine to help with the contractions but it just made my legs and lower area more numb. All of the medicine then made me sick (pitocin for labor, some antibiotics for strep b, and an epidural) and I told Mike I was going to throw up. The nurse got me a bucket and was calling the dr to come see if I was ready. Well when I threw up I must have pushed b/c the baby came half out! So the nurse pushed the code blue button and like 10 drs and nurses came rushing in. One push later and Baby Girl was here. My poor dr felt so bad. She was on her way and stopped to go to the bathroom first. Oh well. I never felt like I was ready to give birth!

We spent 2 days in the hospital and had a few guests. Hayden came after spending a few days at Renee's. I was told he was very good. Hayden and kennedy loved the baby. I thought he would be sad to leave us again but he wasn't.

Our last night a family member paid for a special dinner for us. It was great.

On Monday we were released on a beautiful 70 degree day, today it snowed!

So far not sure who she looks like. She does look a little like Hayden.
