Who needs sleep?

Oh how I miss this...

So Hayden has realized that he can get out of his crib. He has been able to do this since Feb but just started again. The other day I put him to bed. I was reading the paper. About 40 minutes after I put him to bed there he was right next to me. He scared the crap out of me. He got out without making a peep! Great...

So now the last 2 days he won't nap. He climbed out of his crib 15 times yesterday. So no nap. He went to bed ok that evening. At 2 am I woke up to big thud and crying. I thought he climbed out of bed and hurt himself and went to check on him. He was still in bed. But I ruined it. He climbed out several times.

I did something I never did when he was a baby and put him in bed with me. That didn't work. He would lay and then be almost asleep then either talk ("Mommy, Kennedy is at school"), once he pulled Mike's chest hair, and several other annoy ing things. Or he would just scream and cry uncontrollably. Finally he layed down right on my stomach and started to sleep or so I thought. It was so uncomfortable. He was hurting me and my arm was asleep so I waited as long as I could and I whispered to mike for help. Well I guess Hayden wasn't asleep b/c he stood up.

So I took him back to his crib and laid on the cushions next to it and kept stopping him from climbing out. Eventually at 5 am or so (3 hours later!!!!) he went to bed. I woke up super uncomfortable and went back to my bed. At 6 am, when I had finally fallen asleep, Mike's parents who were visiting knocked and woke us up to have mike take them to the airport b/c they got an earlier flight.

So I got no sleep and was a walking zombie at work. Hayden didn't sleep at my sisters house today even though he was exhausted. He climbed out of the pack and play there.

Tonight we built him his bed. I know he will climb out of it like all of the other nights but at least I can ignore him b/c he can climb back in (which he couldn't do with his crib). He has already cried for a half hour. I have him gated in his room! He is so stubborn. I wish he had some of Mike's personality and not all mine...

Needless to say my boy has been a beast! Tantrums, crying, whining, etc. He will be good for 20 minutes and then just lose it. He definitly needs some rest. So do I. I guess this is good practice for when our little girl comes. (What was I thinking??!! :) Great, I will have a 2 year old that doesn't nap and I will never get to nap with the baby. Oh well.

First off.. it's a girl?! CONGRATS! That is awesome! Second, sorry to hear you guys are having a rough time. That's hard enough, and even more so since you need sleep more than ever right now. Good luck, we hope things get back to normal soon!

I hope he still naps for you, it might not be everyday from now on. The part about him pulling Mike's chest hair was so funny.
